On October 18th, Domenico Misurelli, IVY volunteer at ERB International Permanent Secretariat, and Dawid Jedrzejak, member of ERB – Youth Board, had the chance to organize a seminar at the University of Warmia and Mazury in Olsztyn presenting ERB activities, ERASMUS + related projects, IVY initiative and CaSYPoT project.
After spending the morning in the hall of the Faculty of Humanities promoting the activities of Euroregion Baltic and providing information for students willing to take part in EU mobility projects, Domenico and Dawid held a seminar attended by 20 students. The seminar focused on the three main topics: Euroregion Baltic as a hub for increasing cross-border cooperation in the Baltic Sea Region; Erasmus + projects such as EVS – European Voluntary Service as a means to strengthen personal skills, get to know people from different backgrounds and promote solidarity in EU; IVY initiative as a tool for allowing young people based in EU to volunteer in the field of cross-border and transnational cooperation thus acquiring useful competencies; CaSYPoT project as a tool to tackle issues affecting young people in the region and develop a joint strategy.
It’s worth noticing that, if on one side students attending the seminar proved to be extremely interested in the opportunity to be actively involved, on the other they are aware neither of the projects being developed by ERB nor of the chance to experience life abroad in the frame of EU funded programmes. In this regard, considering the fact that the audience included the age group these projects are designed for, face-to-face meetings in universities, Youth Councils, NGOs seem to be to most effective way for promoting awareness.
