On 15th September 2016 in Vilnius Euroregion Baltic participated in an international conference organised by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Lithuania, together with the Lithuanian Association of Local Authorities.
During the conference entitled “Moving Forward. Implementation of the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region (EUSBSR) – Role of Local Authorities” more than 80 representatives of Lithuanian municipalities learnt more about the EU Baltic Sea Strategy and opportunities it offers to Lithuania and the region for sustainable economic development.
“The Baltic Sea region is one of the most dynamically developing regions in Europe. We need to better understand the benefits of regional co-operation which is a tool helping us to improve not only the Baltic region’s competitiveness and well-being, but also to effectively implement national strategies “- said Deputy Foreign Minister Neris Germanas.
The participants were introduced to several examples of international cooperation organisations and networks engaged in the implementation of EUSBSR – CPMR Baltic Sea Commission, Association of Municipalities of Klaipeda Region, EUSBSR PA Education, Swedish Institute and Euroregion Baltic.
