Warmia-Mazury Senior Games 2014

The next edition of the International Sport Competitions WARMIA MAZURY SENIOR GAMES will take place between 28-31st of August 2014 hosting senior sportspeople from Poland and abroad. In order to take part in the competitions, it is required to be 45 or older (individual disciplines) or 40 (team disciplines). The electronic registration to Warmia Mazury Senior Games 2014 has already started. All people eager to participate in the competitions can choose from 14 disciplines, which will take place in modern facilities in 7 hosting cities and towns. Get creative - Go Baltic

Reserve the date! On 3 April 2014 in Brussels the European Commission, the Informal Baltic Sea Group and the Nordic Council of Ministers will host a seminar entitled: Culture and creative industries in the Baltic Sea Area - drivers for growth and sustainable development. The seminar will address key drivers for culture and creative industries, among them the needed skill set in the cultural/creative sector; investment rationales in the Baltic Sea Region and cross-sectoral fertilisation and spill over effects to the other sectors.

Lithuania takes over Presidency in ERB

Mr Vytautas Grubliauskas, Head of Association of Klaipeda Municipalities, took over the position of the President of Euroregion Baltic from Mr Per Ole Petersen and will lead the organization in 2014. Mr Wiesław Byczkowski, Deputy Marshal of Pomorskie Voivodeship will be a Vice-President. Transfer of Presidency was the key point in the agenda of Euroregion Baltic Executive Board meeting, which took place in Klaipeda on 20th March.

Job seekers can now find in only one portal job offers from eight South Baltic Regions: Guldborgsund (DK), Klaipeda (LT), Kaliningrad (RU), Kalmar (SE), Rostock (DE), Tricity (PL), Vorpommern (DE) and West Pomerania (PL). South Baltic as an attractive region to live and work

South Baltic Professional Project implements cross-border activities to promote the South Baltic as an attractive region to live and work in and to prevent well-qualified people from leaving. The project now invites you to on-line courses aiming at raising your interest in the national and organisational cultures of the different regions in the South Baltic. You can take part and study online and/or use webinars to “virtually” meet colleagues from Poland, Lithuania, Germany, Denmark and Sweden. The courses last 6 weeks and start on 16th February, 9th March, and 6th April 2014. Three different letters give basic information about the course tailor-made for three different target groups: students, Job Center/Employment Agency staff and HR Managers/Managing Directors of companies.

 
A Visitor from Japan

Euroregion Baltic was once more selected as an example of effective strategic cooperation platform, and a model that can be followed. On 3rd December Mr Yasutoshi Yoshida, who is Assistant Professor at the Institute for Academic Initiatives at Osaka University in Japan, visited Euroregion Baltic secretariat in Växjö, Sweden. On 4th December he also paid a visit to our partners in Klaipeda, Lithuania.

ERB Executive Board meeting in Olsztyn

On 14 November 2013 in Olsztyn Euroregion Baltic, Self-Government of Warminsko-Mazurskie Voivodeship and Regional Labour Office in Olsztyn organised together a conference "Support to youth on the labour market – experiences and future perspectives”. The conference gathered politicians, labour market experts and youth from Euroregion Baltic member regions.

Labour mobility in BSR

Labour mobility in the Baltic Sea Region has increased remarkably during the past decade. Labour mobility has many benefits both for workers and enterprises, but it also poses challenges. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve cooperation between the Social Partners, governmental institutions and the Baltic Sea States regarding mobility of labour. Such cooperation is facilitated by the Baltic Sea Labour Forum - a flagship project within the EU Strategy for the Baltic Sea Region - where Euroregion Baltic is an observer.

State of the Region Report 2013

European Cooperation Day

On 21st September 2013 and surrounding days, the European citizens will celebrate cooperation over the borders. The kick-off event of the European Cooperation Day, held at the European Parliament in Strasbourg on 10th September 2013 discussed achievements of European Territorial Cooperation (ETC). Members of the European Parliament and experts discussed how ETC has improved the lives of Europeans. EU Commissioner for Regional Policy, Johannes Hahn, sent a video message highlighting the added value of territorial cooperation (see here)
